Who can we care for
As a care home with nursing, the Acorn can care for people with nursing needs – people who need daily treatment or supervision by a trained nurse – as well as people who need social care.
Social care covers a wide range of topics, such as problems with old age, medical problems, physical disabilities, forgetfulness, dementia etc.
We can care for people with specific illnesses; for example Parkinsons, motor neurone, strokes, heart conditions etc.
We have successfully cared for, and are continuing to care for, people with these types of illnesses.
We can only accept people with a diagnosed dementia if their physical need is assessed to be their prime need.
In addition, we can accommodate people for palliative care.
This care can be on a short, medium term or permanent basis, to help rehabilitate someone after a stay in hospital, or perhaps to offer respite for a carer.
A pre-admission assessment will be carried out where practicable to ensure the correct level of care can be administered; emergency admissions will be assessed within the first 48 hours of admission.
We pride ourselves on being flexible enough to cope with most eventualities, and having all the necessary equipment to complement our various types of care.
